Selecting a Performance Exhaust System

Performance Exhaust: Installation of a performance exhaust is typically one of the first modifications that a new car owner selects for their vehicle. It seems that within weeks of purchasing a new BMW we would like a little more sound and performance coming from our new investment. The docile sound of the factory exhaust system has taken the "sport" out of our ultimate driving machines. Selecting an exhaust system can be easy if you know what to look for. Here are some things to avoid. Do not have a local muffler shop remove the rear muffler and simply install a smaller unit or one with larger inlet diameter. Doing this will make the car louder. However modern engine management systems are very sensitive to back pressure changes. Doing this will most likely reduce performance, and create mid range flat spots on acceleration. Select a system that is manufactured by a company that develops and builds their own systems. There are many O.E. muffler manufacturers that are building shiny louder mufflers, and calling them "performance exhausts" unfortunately without the research, development and dyno facility required to extract any available horsepower, your new investment may not bring you any added performance.

Fitment: Select your system from a manufacturer that is in the business of developing single application exhaust systems. To reduce cost many companies adapt a common system to fit as many vehicles as possible. This results in fitment problems and a loss in performance. The best choice is a European manufacturer. In most cases these companies have their systems T.U.V. approved. This approval is similar to our Department of Transportation. To pass this approval, fitment, hanger integrity, and performance gains are all tested prior to the product being available to the public. T.U.V. approval assures you that the system will pass any sound decibel test that may be an issue in your city or state.

Supersprint has been in the business of only developing performance exhaust systems since the 1955. Supersprint pioneered the T.U.V. approval of aftermarket exhaust systems back in 1965. They were the first to realize the need for a high level of manufacturing for quality, safety, and performance. Supersprint has developed private label exhaust programs for major BMW tuners such as Hamann, Hartge, Alpina, Schnitzer, and Breyton. In the Mercedes market Supersprint is the choice of Carlsson, and they have done projects for AMG as well. There must be a reason that all of these German based companyÍs have chosen Supersprint Italy for exhaust system development. Supersprint knows how! Supersprint is also a member of V.D.A.T. This is an exclusive organization of manufacturers, and tuners that are the true performance tuners in the European performance arena.

The choice should be easy. You bought the ultimate driving machine, select only the ultimate performance exhaust!
