Wheel Emblem and Carbon Overlay Install

Note for early model BMWs: Early BMW models have a slightly different procedure then late model BMWs. Early model BMWs did not use a hubcap assembly to secure the wheel emblem. They were simply applied directly to the wheel with an adhesive. You may not be able to pry the old emblem off and it is recommended that you apply the new wheel emblem over the existing emblem. Before applying the new emblem over the existing emblem you should first clean the surface of the old emblem and completely dry to allow the new emblem to properly adhere. The procedure for applying the carbon overlays remain the same as those listed below.

We recommend using new emblems when installing any of the carbon overlays.

Using a small flat blade screwdriver, remove the emblem hubcap.

With the hubcap removed from the car, unclip the retaining ring that secures the wheel emblem.

You can now remove the old emblem by prying a small flat blade screwdriver between the emblem and the hubcap.

Clean the surface of the hubcap of any remaining adhesive.

You can now install the new wheel emblem into the hubcap using a small amount of adhesive.

Clip the hubcap retaining ring back into place and reinstall hubcap back into wheel.

Wipe off emblem with a towel to obtain a clean surface.

Spray the emblem liberally with soapy water. This will allow you to move the overlay around to get the overlay positioned correctly.

Apply the carbon emblem overlays to the wet emblem and position correctly.

Allow the soapy water to completely dry before touching the overlays so that they have time for the overlay to adhere to the emblem.
