The original wheel bolts on your BMW make changing wheels and tires very difficult. This job requires you to not only center the wheel to the hub, it also requires perfect alignment before you can safely start one of the wheel bolts. Switching to alloy wheels will sometimes require different length bolts. For safety, it is important that you have the correct thread penetration into the hub, and there is always the danger of stripping the threads of the hub assembly. The BMP design safety studs are designed to give you maximum thread penetration with the safely of a Lock-tite thread coating for added security. The studs are for use with open end lug nuts. The open end lug nuts will permit longer studs which will accommodate various wheel or spacer thicknesses. Each stud is a high grade 8.8 tensile strength. Installation is easy with a 6mm allen wrench. Studs, nuts, and 6mm allen wrench are each sold separately. With wheels with center caps, be aware that some studs may extend beyond the normal length, prohibiting installation of the center cap . How to select the proper wheel stud length. All BMW factory wheel bolts are 12mm diameter with a 32mm length. If you are not using spacers, or using spacers up to 10mm, you need to select the 40mm studs. For spacers 15 to 20mm use 50mm studs. For spacers 25mm and over you will be supplied special bolts to mount the spacers to the hubs. The studs for these application should then be 40mm. The studs and nuts are sold as individual items. Purchase enough studs and nuts for your model vehicle. A couple of extra lug nuts to keep in your glove box is also a wise move.
